Incident Details: On August 3, 2025, a horrific road accident took place on the Mel Khedi Road in Baran district of Rajasthan, which left the entire area in a state of shock. A Bolero vehicle, which was speeding on the road, suddenly went out of control. The driver not only lost control but also crushed pedestrians, bikers and cyclists walking on the road. About a dozen people were injured in the accident, many of whom are said to be in critical condition. All the injured were immediately shifted to the district hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. CCTV footage, which went viral on social media, presents a heartbreaking picture of the incident. In the video, it can be seen that the Bolero vehicle, speeding on the road, hits a bike, then crushes the pedestrians, and does not even spare the people standing on the side of the road and a shopkeeper who was getting a motorcycle repaired. The car went over the divider and veered off the road, hitting people standing on the side. An eyewitness, Mahavir, said the driver was probably drunk, given the speed of the car and its reckless driving. The act of walking was not consistent with the actions of a conscious driver. Immediately after the accident, the driver parked the vehicle at some distance and fled the spot. Locals immediately informed the police, and the injured were rushed to the hospital. Police action: Kotwali Police Station In-charge Yogesh Chauhan said that the police have seized the vehicle and have started examining the nearby CCTV footage to find the absconding driver. He said: “The accident took place near a petrol pump on the Melkhedi Road Bypass. The Bolero driver lost control of the vehicle, injuring several people. We are collecting evidence to identify the accused, and strict action will be taken against him.” The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Naya Sangh (BNS) and have started investigation based on the written statements of the injured. Eyewitness statement: According to eyewitnesses, the speed of the vehicle was so high that the people did not even get a chance to recover. A local shopkeeper, Ram Lal, said: “I was repairing a motorcycle at my shop when suddenly this vehicle came and It kept crushing everything. People were screaming, and there was chaos on the road.” Another eyewitness said that the vehicle also hit cattle on the road, which made the scene even more terrifying. In the video, it can be seen that the vehicle, after climbing over the divider, veers off the road and hits people standing on the side. Speeding vehicles are running like death on our roads. The police should arrest the accused soon.” Another user commented: “Blood froze after seeing the CCTV footage. Are our roads no longer safe? The law needs to be tightened.'' Condition of the injured: Of the 12 people injured in the accident, Many are in critical condition. Dr. Rajesh Kumar of the district hospital said that the injured include people of different ages, including children and women. Some of the injured have been shifted to a major hospital in Kota, where they are undergoing surgery. The hospital administration said that all necessary arrangements have been made for the treatment of the injured.
