The Holy Prophet ﷺ and Youth: The Message of Seerah for Today's Youth

Mufti Abdul Wahhab

Youth is that stage of life in which a person possesses energy, dreams, and the capability to achieve something grand. If this age connects with a noble purpose, history can change; but if it is spent in worldly desires, negligence, and purposeless activities, a person wastes their most precious years.

Today's youth also stands at this crossroad. On one side, there is the world of screens, the race for fame, desires, and temporary pleasures; on the other side is the luminous path of the Prophet's Seerah ﷺ, following which the youth gave a new direction to the world.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never ignored young people merely considering them young in age. He ﷺ recognized their potential, trusted them, and assigned them responsibilities.

Hazrat Mus'ab ibn Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) was an affluent youth of Makkah, but when he embraced faith, he prioritized his purpose over luxuries. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to Madinah, and a young preacher transformed the atmosphere there through his knowledge, character, and wisdom.

Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) was barely around twenty years old when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entrusted him with the leadership of a large army. This was a clear message that leadership does not come from age alone, but is born out of capability, trustworthiness, and character.

Hazrat Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) was sent to Yemen during his youth so that he could provide religious guidance to the people. His life shows that youth is not merely the name of strength, but also of knowledge, wisdom, and service.

Look at Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). On the night of Migration (Hijrah), enemies were outside the house, yet he accepted the responsibility of sleeping on the bed of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When youth is bound with faith and loyalty, fear cannot block the path.

Today, we should not just tell the youth to abstain from sin, leave mobile phones, or stop wasting time. We must give them a grander purpose than this. We must make them realize that time is life, capability is a trust, and faith raises a person from an ordinary life to make them worthy of great responsibility.

This is the message of the Seerah for today's youth: Do not just become successful, become beneficial. Do not just become famous, become credible. Attain knowledge, value your time, seek the prayers of your parents, and enliven your heart with the love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

A young person who possesses faith, purpose, and character does not become a victim of circumstances, but generates the strength to change those circumstances.

The Blessing of Prayer and Human Nature

The Blessing of Prayer and Human Nature

Today after Fajr, while I was reciting (the Quran), I stopped at a verse of Surah Al-Ma'arij. It was about the creation of man, describing how man was originally created. The verse was: "Indeed, mankind was created anxious." (Innal-insana khuliqa haloo'a) The reality is that man has been created with very little endurance or patience. When I looked at the English translation, the meaning of "Haloo'a" was written as "anguish". Now, if I try to understand "anguish" in Urdu, it means a person who has restlessness, anxiety, or impatience. Anyway, I settled for the meaning "weak-willed" and took it in the sense of impatience. The next verse was even more meaningful: "When evil touches him, he is distressed." (Iza massahush-sharru jazoo'a) I understood the word "Jazoo'a", and its English translation was also very close—"impatient", meaning restless. That is, when any hardship or pain touches a man, he immediately wants it to be lifted and ended somehow. "And when good touches him, he withholds [it]." (Wa iza massahul-khairu manoo'a) And when prosperity comes to him, he becomes very miserly. "Manoo'a" means stingy or a miser. When he receives a blessing, his heart desires that the blessing should remain only with him and no one else should get it. The verse that brings tears came after that: "Except those who pray." (Illal-musalleen) But those who offer prayers are not like this. This means that except for the people who establish prayer, the general condition of mankind is just like this. This inherent, birth condition of man can only change when he establishes prayer. I felt a strange sense of joy thinking about this. While reading the first three verses, I was wondering why Allah Almighty is listing the shortcomings and flaws of the human being He created Himself. But when I read "Except those who pray," my heart became deeply comforted that Allah Almighty has provided a way to overcome these shortcomings and flaws. If someone prays regularly, they can escape the mental and emotional states of "Haloo'a", "Jazoo'a", and "Manoo'a". And I began to think, or rather imagine, what a beautiful state a person's mind and soul reach when anxiety, restlessness, and stinginess leave them. That is, only by the blessing of prayer do anxiety, restlessness, and stinginess leave a person's heart, and their worry, suffocation, and narrow-mindedness are removed. What a vastness and openness enters a human being! How light and peaceful a person's nature becomes, and how the burdens weighing heavily on their heart simply vanish! Undoubtedly, prayer is a magnificent blessing. Written by: Abdul Khaliq Qasmi Khureji, Delhi. ___________📝📝____________ Narrated. Selection: Islamic Tube Pro App
