The Most Powerful Apology in History (Hazrat Abu Dharr and Hazrat Bilal)

The Most Powerful Apology in History (Hazrat Abu Dharr and Hazrat Bilal)

When Hazrat Abu Dharr (R.A) said to Hazrat Bilal (R.A)... "O son of a black mother! Will you also find faults in me now...?" Hearing this, Bilal (R.A) became restless with anger and sorrow, stood up and said, "By Allah! I will definitely raise this matter before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)!!" Hearing this, the color of the Messenger of Allah's face changed and he said: "Abu Dharr! Did you insult him by shaming his mother??? The ignorance (Jahiliyyah) inside you has still not gone!!" Hearing this much, Abu Dharr (R.A) started crying and saying, "O Messenger of Allah! Pray for my forgiveness." Then he left the mosque weeping. Coming outside, he placed his cheek on the dust and addressed Bilal, saying: "Bilal! Until you trample my cheek with your foot, I will not raise it from the dust. Certainly, you are honorable and respected, and I am disgraced and humbled!!" Seeing this, Bilal (R.A) came crying, drew close to Abu Dharr, kissed his cheek, and spontaneously spoke out: "By the Pure God! How can I trample this cheek which has prostrated before God even once?" Then both stood up, embraced each other, and wept bitterly!! (Sahih Bukhari: 31) And today, we hurt each other's feelings thousands of times, but no one says: "Brother! Forgive me, Sister! Please accept my apology." It is true that we pierce people's feelings day in and day out; but we do not even utter words of apology from our tongues, and we feel ashamed even to say a single word like "Please forgive me." Seeking forgiveness is a noble culture and excellent manners, whereas many people think that it is a humiliation to oneself. We are all travelers, and the provisions for the journey are very scarce. We all ask Allah for forgiveness and pardon in this world and the Hereafter. *Note* Pass this message on to others so that Allah may change someone's life through you. Copied/Narrated.
