Bengaluru: A spine-chilling incident has come to light from the Rajajinagar area of Karnataka's capital, Bengaluru. A cab driver brutally murdered 7 members of his in-laws' family, including his wife and a 7-year-old child, due to domestic discord and mutual disputes. The revelation of this heinous mass murder late at night triggered panic in the locality and sent shockwaves through the police department. Police have arrested the accused husband, Indu Shekhar.

Why Was the Conspiracy for This Mass Murder Hatched?

During preliminary interrogation, the accused Indu Shekhar confessed to his crime and revealed the motive behind the killings. According to the accused, he strongly disliked his wife Sunita's attitude and her frequent interactions with her maiden family. Despite being warned, Sunita continued visiting her family. When Indu Shekhar complained about this to his mother-in-law and brothers-in-law, they backed Sunita and scolded him instead. To avenge this humiliation and resentment, he hatched a horrific conspiracy to eliminate the entire family.

List of Deceased:

Sunita (Wife of the accused)

Roopavati (Mother-in-law)

Shivakumar (Brother-in-law)

Shankar (Brother-in-law)

Divya (Brother-in-law's wife/Sister-in-law)

Nalini (Brother-in-law's wife/Sister-in-law)

Puneeth (7-year-old son of Shivakumar)

Lured Under the Pretext of a Party, Crushed to Death with a Grinding Stone

According to the police, the accused executed all seven murders one after another through a cunning plan:

First Victim: The accused first killed his wife Sunita inside his house.

Party Trap: He then invited both his brothers-in-law—Shivakumar and Shankar—to his house under the pretext of having a party and murdered them as well.

Carnage at In-Laws' House: After killing his brothers-in-law, the accused seized the opportunity to kill his mother-in-law Roopavati, both brothers-in-law's wives (Divya and Nalini), and the 7-year-old child Puneeth.

Police stated that the accused used a grinding stone (silbatta) to commit all the murders. To destroy evidence after the crime, he cleaned the bloodstains at his house and his in-laws' house using chemicals and disposed of all the bodies at different locations.

Missing Person Report Exposes the Crime, Search for 6 Bodies Underway

This sensational case unravelled when a missing person complaint for a family member was lodged at the Srirampura police station. Suspicion fell on Indu Shekhar, and when police took him into custody and subjected him to strict questioning, he repeatedly changed his statements. Ultimately, he confessed to all seven murders.

After an intensive 4-hour search operation, police recovered the body of 7-year-old Puneeth near the foothills of Nandi Hills. However, the accused is not cooperating fully with the investigation and is attempting to mislead the police, due to which police teams are searching various areas to recover the remaining 6 bodies.
