Visiting Father Before Death:

The daughter of Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar (R.A.) fell ill, and the doctors gave up hope. She was a young girl. Her mother asked, "Is there any final wish or desire?" She replied, "I long to see my father." The mother had a letter written. The young daughter's letter reached her father in a foreign land, stating, "I am counting the last moments of my life. My heart's final wish is for my dear father to come so I may see you." What a profound matter it was! When Hazrat received the letter, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar (R.A.) wrote two couplets on the back of that letter and sent it back. What a reply he wrote to his daughter in such a state! He says:

I am indeed helpless, but Allah is not helpless,

I am far from you, but He is not far.

Your health is desirable to us, but if to Him

It is not desirable, then it is not desirable to us either.

If one is blessed with this state of mind, the true bliss of life would be attained. May Allah Almighty make this love easy for us. Ameen. (Khutbat, Vol. 1, P. 115)
