Shaykh-ul-Islam Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani (May his shadow be lengthened):

"The simple matter is that if your opinion differs from another's, just state your opinion, saying, 'This is my view.' And listen to the other person's point; if it makes sense to you, accept it, and if it doesn't, then simply say, 'I didn't quite understand your point; you may act upon what seems right to you, and I will act upon what seems right to me.'

Nothing is gained from arguing; because in an argument or debate, everyone desires to overpower the other, to keep their word supreme, and remains focused on subduing the other person. As a result, the distinction between truth and falsehood is lost, and the only obsession that takes over is to subdue the other person by any means necessary."
