The Blessing of Prayer and Human Nature

The Blessing of Prayer and Human Nature

Today after Fajr, while I was reciting (the Quran), I stopped at a verse of Surah Al-Ma'arij. It was about the creation of man, describing how man was originally created. The verse was: "Indeed, mankind was created anxious." (Innal-insana khuliqa haloo'a) The reality is that man has been created with very little endurance or patience. When I looked at the English translation, the meaning of "Haloo'a" was written as "anguish". Now, if I try to understand "anguish" in Urdu, it means a person who has restlessness, anxiety, or impatience. Anyway, I settled for the meaning "weak-willed" and took it in the sense of impatience. The next verse was even more meaningful: "When evil touches him, he is distressed." (Iza massahush-sharru jazoo'a) I understood the word "Jazoo'a", and its English translation was also very close—"impatient", meaning restless. That is, when any hardship or pain touches a man, he immediately wants it to be lifted and ended somehow. "And when good touches him, he withholds [it]." (Wa iza massahul-khairu manoo'a) And when prosperity comes to him, he becomes very miserly. "Manoo'a" means stingy or a miser. When he receives a blessing, his heart desires that the blessing should remain only with him and no one else should get it. The verse that brings tears came after that: "Except those who pray." (Illal-musalleen) But those who offer prayers are not like this. This means that except for the people who establish prayer, the general condition of mankind is just like this. This inherent, birth condition of man can only change when he establishes prayer. I felt a strange sense of joy thinking about this. While reading the first three verses, I was wondering why Allah Almighty is listing the shortcomings and flaws of the human being He created Himself. But when I read "Except those who pray," my heart became deeply comforted that Allah Almighty has provided a way to overcome these shortcomings and flaws. If someone prays regularly, they can escape the mental and emotional states of "Haloo'a", "Jazoo'a", and "Manoo'a". And I began to think, or rather imagine, what a beautiful state a person's mind and soul reach when anxiety, restlessness, and stinginess leave them. That is, only by the blessing of prayer do anxiety, restlessness, and stinginess leave a person's heart, and their worry, suffocation, and narrow-mindedness are removed. What a vastness and openness enters a human being! How light and peaceful a person's nature becomes, and how the burdens weighing heavily on their heart simply vanish! Undoubtedly, prayer is a magnificent blessing. Written by: Abdul Khaliq Qasmi Khureji, Delhi. ___________📝📝____________ Narrated. Selection: Islamic Tube Pro App
