*Malfoozat (Sayings) of Hakeem-ul-Ummat Mujaddid-ul-Millat Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Ashraf Ali Thanvi (Rahmatullahi Alaih)*

*What is lacking in Satan?*

He stated: Merely knowing something is not such a great perfection. In this way, Satan is also a very big scholar; he misleads the greatest of people. He is an expert in Tafseer (exegesis), well-versed in Hadith, and perfect in Fiqh (jurisprudence)—what is it that he does not know? If he did not know more, how could he mislead the scholars?

Only when a person is an expert in an art or field can he deceive those who know less than him. If there is a deficiency in him (meaning Satan), it is only that he does not act upon his knowledge.

*Accordingly, it has also come in the noble Hadith that such knowledge which is not practiced upon is a means to Hell.*
