Once, you went to the graveyard with the funeral of one of your relatives. Upon reaching the graveyard, you went and sat down in an isolated spot and began to think about something. Someone submitted: "O Commander of the Faithful (Amir al-Mu'minin)! You were the guardian (Wali) of this funeral, yet you sat apart?" He replied: "Yes! A grave called out to me and said: 'O Umar bin Abdul Aziz! Why do you not ask me how I treat those who come to me?' I said: 'Do tell me.'"

It said: "When they enter inside me, I tear up their shrouds, I cut their bodies into pieces, I suck all their blood, and I eat away their flesh. And shall I tell you what I do with the joints of a man? I separate the shoulders from the arms, the arms from the wrists, the hips from the body, the thighs from the hips, the knees from the thighs, the shins from the knees, and the feet from the shins."

Saying this, Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) began to weep and said: "The stay in this world is very short, and its deception is immense. He who is honored in it is humiliated in the Hereafter; he who is wealthy in it is a pauper in the Hereafter; and its youth will grow old very quickly." (Al-Aaqibah fi Dhikr al-Maut - Al-Ashbili, p. 191)

An Evaluation of Your Life

An Evaluation of Your Life

Whoever came into this world came only to depart. You have buried hundreds under the earth yourself, Yet you still lack absolute certainty about death. There is no one more heedless than you, Take some lesson from this, O wretched self! 8. When that inevitable event of death approaches you, which no one can avert, neither your wealth nor your servants and helpers will be of any use to you. 9. At that moment, doctors, physicians, friends, relatives, and all your family members will exhaust their remedies to save you, lose hope, and stand up to leave your side. 10. The agony of death (Naza'a) will overwhelm you; someone will try to pour water into your mouth with a spoon, while someone else will recite Surah Yaseen to you. 11. After your soul departs, your current clothes will be removed from your body, and you will be wrapped in two sheets of shroud (Kafan). 12. They will leave you all alone in the depths of the earth and hide you away from their sight. 13. Someone will say, "He was a very good father," someone will say, "He was a very good friend," and someone will say, "He was very pious." 14. Remember! The love of beautiful and delicate ones is pure misfortune and regret. This daily routine of yours—dressing up morning and evening, dancing, singing, and spending days and nights eating, drinking, and indulging in worldly pleasures with your companions—has no end except humiliation and disgrace in the Hereafter. 15. There is still time, listen to my advice: withdraw your heart from the love of every worldly beloved and bind a bond of love and affection with Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ. Obey and follow him completely in every matter with all your heart and soul, and place your hope and trust for salvation only upon him. 16. The love of the Holy Prophet ﷺ brings honor to a human being in this world and religion, serves as a source of comfort in the grave, and is the best treasure and provision for the Hereafter. ____________📝📝____________ Book: Monthly Falah-e-Dareen Karachi (June) Page Number: 29 - 30 Selection: Islamic Tube Pro App
