The Lesson of the Burnt Roti: A Father's Wisdom on Forgiveness and Relationships

The Lesson of the Burnt Roti: A Father's Wisdom on Forgiveness and Relationships

Abul Kalam says: One night at dinner time, my mother placed curry and a burnt roti (bread) in front of my father. I kept waiting for my father's reaction, thinking he might express his anger, but he ate his meal with absolute calmness and, at the same time, asked me how my day went at school. I don't remember what I replied... but during that time, my mother apologized for the burnt roti. My father said: "It doesn't matter, in fact, I actually enjoyed eating this roti." That night, when I went to my father's room to say goodnight, I asked him about it, whether he really enjoyed eating the burnt roti. He replied: "Son, a burnt roti does no harm, but a bitter reaction and harsh words wound a person's feelings. My child! This world is full of countless undesirable things and people. I am not a perfect or flawless person either, and I understand that the people around us can also make mistakes. Overlooking each other's mistakes, nurturing relationships well, and showing magnanimity is what leads to better relationships. Our life is so short that there should be no room for apologies and regrets in it." Make life prosperous with gratitude and patience; indeed, Allah loves those who are grateful. ___________📝📝📝___________ Narrated. Selection: Islamic Tube Pro App
