"Better Late Than Never": Akhilesh Retorts to Shah's UCC Statement in UP, Targets BJP Over MLC Results

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav took a sharp jibe at Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement regarding the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh, remarking, "Badi der kar di meherbaan aate-aate" (Better late than never, my friend). Earlier, speaking at a BJP Working Committee meeting in Lucknow, Shah had stated that the UCC would be implemented in Uttar Pradesh after forming the government for a third consecutive term in 2027, asserting that the BJP government in UP stands as firm as "Angad's foot."

Akhilesh's Claim on Legislative Council (MLC) Results

Prior to the press conference, Akhilesh welcomed newly elected MLCs Kanti Singh, Maan Singh, Ashutosh Sinha, Akash Agarwal, and Lal Bihari Yadav at the SP headquarters. He stated that female teachers voted overwhelmingly against the BJP, adding that this mandate clearly shows teachers and graduates stand against the ruling party. According to him, while the BJP may have lost only five seats on paper, it has effectively lost across 50 districts.

"Stampede to Ensue in BJP"

Akhilesh claimed that the BJP's ticket windows will soon see a total lack of takers.

He asserted that the business community, Brahmins, Vaishyas, and Kayasthas are actively backing the Samajwadi Party.

SP's Campaign Promises

Free education from KG to PG (Kindergarten to Post-Graduation).

A unified "One Class" system for all sports centers.

Questions Over Election Commission and Data Privacy

Akhilesh asserted that even if the SP wins all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, the party will continue to demand elections conducted via paper ballots.

He alleged that voter lists require urgent rectification and accused BJP operatives of creating fake Aadhaar cards on voting day to cast fraudulent votes.

He further accused the government of selling user data, claiming that UP is currently witnessing the highest rate of cyber fraud.

Additionally, he alleged that the BJP government closed down 26,000 schools while opening 27,000 liquor shops, effectively eliminating 125,000 teaching posts.
