SIR Deadline Extended Again: Final Voter List in 5 States on November 30, Delhi on December 22

The Election Commission has once again extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The final dates for this ongoing drive in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Nagaland have been revised. This marks the third time the Commission has had to push back the deadline for this process.

When Will the Final Voter List Be Released?

Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Nagaland: November 30, 2026

Delhi: December 22, 2026

Decision Follows Supreme Court's Stance

This extension comes just two days after the Supreme Court took a stern stance regarding the deadline and procedure of the SIR. According to the Commission, the Chief Electoral Officers of the respective states and Union Territory had requested additional time. The decision was taken to ensure that no eligible citizen is left off the electoral roll.

State-Wise New Timelines

Maharashtra: The last date for claims and objections has been extended from October 26 to November 13. The process of issuing notices and resolving claims will continue until November 25. Final list on November 30.

Delhi: The last date for claims and objections has been extended from October 30 to November 25. Disposal of objections extended from November 30 to December 15. Final list on December 22.

Haryana and Andhra Pradesh: Disposal of claims and objections by November 20.

Telangana: Disposal by November 26.

Nagaland: Disposal by November 25.

Following this, the final list for these three states will be published on November 30.

What Facility Is Available for Voters?

The Commission has directed all respective state election officers to widely publicize the revised timeline. The goal is to allow first-time voters, citizens who have recently changed their address, and those whose names were omitted or incorrectly recorded in the draft list to apply in time using Form-6, Form-7, or Form-8.
