Incident Details: A heartbreaking incident took place on the evening of July 31, 2025 in Ghaziabad's Govindpuram H Block, where Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Avinash Kumar Singh, 28, and his 25-year-old sister Anjali Singh committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance. The two siblings were found unconscious in a room of their house, from where they were immediately taken to Sarode Hospital, but the doctors declared both of them dead. Initially, the police did not find any suicide note, and the family refused to take any legal action. However, during a re-search of the room on Friday, the police found a 22-page suicide note from Anjali's diary, which revealed the reasons for the tragedy. Anjali wrote in her note: "No one is responsible for our death except Miss Ritu (stepmother) and Mr. Sukhbir Singh (father). My friend Mahim will be the rightful owner of my bank account and PF money." "Miss Ritu and Mr Sukhbir, don't touch my pyre. The fire will only add glory to my pyre." Congratulations to your wife.” Anjali also made serious allegations against her stepmother Ritu. He wrote that Ritu questioned his character, defamed him, and abused him, But her father remained silent and did not listen to her. She wrote: “Some people will say that I am guilty for writing like this about my parents. But I know how it was to spend 16 years with my stepmother. Apart from me, only my brother understood this pain.” Anjali warned Ritu not to tear the pages of her note, because she had sent her pictures to many people. She wrote: “If I had died alone, my character would have been questioned. That is why we both brother and sister took this step. We were going through mental stress. Family background and allegations: Avinash and Anjali's maternal uncle Devendra Singh filed a complaint at the Kavi Nagar police station, accusing Sukhbir Singh, Ritu Rani, and Avinash's grandfather Bhagwan Sahay of abetting the siblings' suicide. According to Devendra, Avinash and Anjali's mother Kamlesh was married to Sukhbir Singh in 1995. A few years later, Sukhbir developed a relationship with Ritu, a woman from Meerut, due to which Kamlesh was mentally and physically tortured. Devendra claimed that in 2007, Sukhbir poisoned Kamlesh to marry Ritu. Sukhbir married Ritu a few months after Kamlesh's death. Devendra alleged that Ritu and Sukhbir constantly tortured Avinash and Anjali. He used to tell both of them, “I wish you too would have died with your mother.” Their grandfather Bhagwan Sahay was also involved in this torture. According to Devendra, two days ago, Ritu had a fight with the children, which made him very upset. Fed up with this torture, The siblings ended their lives by consuming poisonous substances like their mother. After the death of Avinash and Anjali's mother Kamlesh, the two children were raised by their mother Rani at her home in Indirapuram for some time. However, Sukhbir later brought them back to his home in Govindpuram, where their abuse resumed. Devendra said that the children were beaten up for petty things, and they were threatened that "it would be good if you die like your mother." Police action: Kavi Nagar ECP Bhaskar Verma said that Devendra's letter has been received, and the allegations are being investigated. He said that legal action will be taken only after examining the death of Kamlesh in 2007 and the recent allegations.
