Tension in Dhubri: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma orders ‘shoot at sight’ against rioters

June 14, 2025, Guwahati In view of the tension in Dhubri district of Assam, bordering Bangladesh, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a ‘shoot-at-sight’ order against rioters. He said that a ‘sectarian group’ is trying to spread unrest at night, which will not be tolerated. Incident details Protests began on Sunday after pieces of meat were found near a temple in Dhubri city. On June 7, the day after Bakri Eid, a cow’s head was found in front of the Hanuman temple at the district headquarters, further worsening the situation. Government measures On Friday, the Chief Minister visited Dhubri and reviewed the situation. He announced the deployment of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and CRPF personnel. Sarma said that all the culprits will be arrested. Conclusion Communal tension in Dhubri has threatened the peace of the area. The government is trying to control the situation with strict measures, but cooperation at the local level is necessary to maintain communal harmony. But there is no doubt that the riotous mentality of the Hindutva society has been exposed many times before. The leaders have done such things many times to create communal unrest and then the blame was put on Muslims. Pray that the perpetrators are exposed and that the innocent do not fall victim to this conspiracy.
