------

This human body is made of dust and will return to dust. Upon entering the grave, these beautiful eyes that are adorned with kohl and eyeliner, these hair and cheeks that efforts are made to make beautiful and elegant, and this stomach to satisfy whose hunger every kind of effort is made—these very eyes will burst and their fluid will flow down the cheeks of the face, the hair will naturally decay and break away, the stomach will become foul-smelling and burst open, and the insects in the grave will make this body of dust their food. Man remains forgetful of this state in the world, but this state is bound to happen. To draw attention towards this, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once said to the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them):

"Every day, the grave openly proclaims in an eloquent and clear language: 'O children of Adam! How did you forget me? Do you not know that I am the house of loneliness, I am the place of wilderness (traveling), my place is terrifying, I am the house of worms, and I am a narrow place except for the one for whom Allah Almighty expands me!' Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'The grave is either one of the pits of Hell or one of the gardens of Paradise.'"

Therefore, explaining the requirement of modesty and shyness before Allah Almighty, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Remember your death and the decay of the body! This will create the concern for the Hereafter, and the urge to avoid sins will emerge strongly."

The Witty Advice of Mullah Nasiruddin to Amir Timur

The Witty Advice of Mullah Nasiruddin to Amir Timur

One day, Amir Timur Lang was holding court. The courtiers were standing in their respective places in a respectful manner. Referring to the Caliphs of Baghdad, Timur said, "Their titles used to be very magnificent. For example, Mustaqzir Billah, Wathiq Billah, Mu'tasim Billah, and Mutawakkil Billah, etc. I wish to adopt some title of this kind as well." The courtiers suggested various titles according to their own understanding... When it was Mullah Nasiruddin's turn, he sought amnesty for his life and submitted, "In the humble opinion of this insignificant person, Your Majesty's title 'Na'oodhu Billah' (We seek refuge in Allah) will be very appropriate."
