Ibn Hubayrah wanted to entrust the post of judge (Qada) to Imam Abu Hanifah (may Allah have mercy on him), but he refused to accept it. Upon this refusal of Imam Abu Hanifah, he took an oath that if the Imam did not accept the post of judge, he would flog him and then throw him into prison.

Despite his repeated attempts, Imam Abu Hanifah refused to accept the post of judge, so Ibn Hubayrah had Imam Abu Hanifah flogged to such an extent that his face and head became swollen from the beating. Imam Abu Hanifah said:

(( الضَّرْبُ بِالسِّیَا طِ فِی الدُّنْیَا أَھْوَن عَلَیَّ مِنَ الضَّرْبِ بِمَقَاطِعِ الْحَدِیدِ فِی الآخِرَۃِ ))

"Enduring floggings in this world is far easier for me than facing iron maces in the Hereafter."

The Unshakable Faith of a Mother

The Unshakable Faith of a Mother

The poet of Khatm-e-Nabuwat, Sayyid Amin Gilani (may Allah have mercy on him), narrates an incident from his time in prison, saying: "One day, a prison guard came and told me that the superintendent was calling me to the office. When I reached the office, I saw my mother sitting there along with my wife and my son, Salman Gilani, who was about a year and a quarter to a year and a half old at that time. As soon as my respected mother saw me, she stood up, embraced me, and began kissing my forehead. She asked about my well-being, her voice choked with emotion. The superintendent sensed that she was crying. My heart also filled up, and tears began to well up in my eyes. Seeing this, the superintendent said, 'Respected mother! Are you crying? Tell your son (passing a form forward) to sign this, and you can take him with you. He will be pardoned right now!' I was still composing myself to give him a reply when my mother spoke up passionately, 'What signature? What pardon? My heart desires to sacrifice ten such sons for the honor of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). My crying is merely motherly affection.' Hearing this, the superintendent was filled with shame, and my heart was deeply comforted."
