Some people drink water standing up from public water dispensers (Sabeel) set up on the streets or coolers kept in mosques, etc. This act of theirs is Makrooh Tanzeehi (mildly disliked), because water should be drunk while sitting. Yes! If there is no place to sit due to overcrowding and rush, or there is a fear of clothes getting spoiled due to mud, or there is any other excuse of this kind, then drinking while standing will be permissible without any Karahat (dislike).
