"The greatest punishment for sins is that a person forgets his own self, rejects his shared portion bestowed by Allah Almighty, and sells Allah's bounty for a miserable and insignificant price. Consequently, the sinful servant loses something for which there is absolutely no substitute.
The poet says:
مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إِذَا ضَيَّعْتَهُ عِوَضُ
وَمَا مِنَ اللهِ إِنْ ضَيَّعْتَهُ عِوَضُ
Therefore, Allah grants a substitute for everything except Himself, and nothing can ever be a substitute for Allah.
